Double speak
After reading examples of doublespeak in 1984, is when I actually started noticing doublespeak in our society a lot. but, I found one example to be extremely interesting. Winston says that the government executing people is not killing them but "vaporizing" them. saying the word vaporize is a lot cleaner and friendlier than saying killed slaughtered or murdered and can probably go undetected by most people. The way they use doublespeak makes their actions seem alot less server than they actually are. one night after watching the movie Hotel Rwanda, I finally caught the craziest example of doublespeak. When a genocide infests a country and starts to kill thousands of people, in order to keep other countries from getting involved and so other countries do not have to involve themselves, they refer to a genocide as "a civil war". and i guess if you are an outsider looking in, it looks like a civil war because you have one half of the country fighting another. except, the other side is getting wiped off the face of the planet and isn't trying to fight back. and then after a genocide is over and every country doesn't want to feel guilty about not intervining, they say it will "never happen again" and in textbooks can be referred to as a mass "ethinic cleansing". Calling a mass killing of people definietly sounds alot better when you use doublespeak, because when you are a country who is not involved, it doesn't sound like a serious enough of a problem and if it is called a civil war you can't get involved at all. And, odds are, genocide is going to happen again. and when it does, we will continue to see more and more use of wonderful doublespeak, and millions of more people being "cleansed" and "vaporized,".

IN CLASS OPTION: What about you would the Handicapper General, Diana Moon Glombers, handicap?
I think that everyone would have basic handicaps. weights on ankles, to keep from being able to faster or more elegant. But, if i were to be handicapped I think I would have an earpiece in my ear, because i like to read and write and develop my own opinions, and i would probably have a lot of weights on my arms because i love to bake and write and stuff like that, so i think arm weights would limit my ablities to bake well and to be able to write too much. I also love to sing, so i would have to have some type of handicap for my voice as well.

Blog #2
I believe that the only propaganda that can be beneficial is propaganda that targets your moral character. any type of propaganda that influence's you to do something morally just, is positive. and, honestly, I have seen nothing but positive children's propaganda. The ages 0-5 are when children are the most easy influenced by their experiences and surroundings. And almost all children's propaganda is positive. I especially like Takes two to Tango, because it teaches young children to socially accept homosexuality. The author of the article we read in class was against the article because the author "didn't want our children becoming political figures" The author also noted multiple times that they are Christian and more Christains do not believe in gay marriage. Honestly, religion has nothing to do with politics or a children's book. It's about love. And that book does nothing but give a positive image to Gay marriage and homosexuality. All children's books have propaganda and that book was positive. I wish all propaganda could be like that.

A Perfect World
A perfect world is obviously impossible, because everyone has different opinions over what perfect really is. And like all people, I have my own idea of a perfect, and it includes multiple different aspects of people, society, education, and relationships.
One thing that I would imagine would be perfect, would be if everyone keep their religous, and political opinions and beliefs to themselves!!! Mixing politics and religion is a deadly combination and people become extreme and discriminate against other people because they aren't the same religion or have the same political views. And, on top of that, I would let gay marriage be allowed, no matter what anyone else thought about it. I would also make it manditory for teachers to teach children in school that everyone is equal! No matter what walk of life you're from, or your race or walk of life, everyone should be empathetic toward one another and be raised to love each and jugde only by moral chartacter, and not by anything more.
I would also make necessities free or at least less expensive. Like basic medical care like shots and check-ups would be free. And food would go down in price considerably. And all clothing brands would be gone because clothing is a necessity! They shouldn't be too expensive and no one should be valued on physical posscessions. And every doctor or dentist or rehabilition facility would take Medicare and Medicad and no deny people the care they need all because they can't afford it.,
Also, education will lower in price drastically, and scholerships will be easier to obtain. School is something everyone needs. Some schools are a lot more expensive than others, but that won't be the case in MY utopia. Prices would lower drastically on everything, but especially on things that people need to survive.
And psychology appointments will be as regular as normal doctors appointments, because that will eliminate the odds of mental illnesses and other instabilities to go undetected. And, people wouldn't be allowed to have advertisments for clothes, or models, or make up. There would be no society beauty standard and no one will be allowed to diet or "watch their weight" unless it is recommened by a doctor for their health. And plastic surgery and any other way of changing the way you look naturally would not exist, people will learn to love themselves the way they are and not want to change themselves.
These are just a couple of things that would be apart of my utopia. I'm sure to a lot of people, this doesn't sounds perfect, or a forgot a lot of aspects of our society or something. But, this is what i honestly believe a perfect world would be like.
